The Climax Pool Table Circa 1890
4.5 x 9'
Drop Leather Pockets
Vermont Slate
This billiard table was manufactured by the National Billiard Manufacturing Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio, c. 1890, and is named "The Climax". Unlike Brunswick pool tables that were mass produced in the thousands, this National Billiard table had limited production, is of the earliest of vintages, and has the most beautiful rich quartered oak finish imaginable. This billiard table is a work of art unto itself, with the original name plate at one end, and is in outstanding condition with some fun history. This table used to reside in Filoli gardens for a very long time. For those that are not familiar with Filoli Gardens, it is a magnificent 654-acre estate in Woodside,California, featuring a 54,000+ Georgian revival mansion and a 16 acre formal English Renaissance garden surrounded by expansive wilderness. Many Presidents, high ranking diplomats, and captains of industries have stayed in this historic venue. This is more than a billiard table, it is a rare heirloom piece with documented history, distinguished provenance, and a story worthy of the estate it once called home.
